TLC Care and Support is led by Paul Hainsworth, who became Chief Executive in 2018 with a passion to expand the company’s strengths and further develop the business.

TLC was founded in 1996 by Pauline Hennessey who was disillusioned by the care and support that her sister Janet, who had learning disabilities, had been receiving elsewhere.

Although Janet sadly died just before the business opened its doors, TLC has gone from strength to strength, providing much-needed first-class care and support to many people over the years.

The company was sold in 2008 to Glen Harms and Ralph Charles, gradually increasing in size as new opportunities arose.

Since becoming Chief Executive, Paul has worked closely with the Management Team to further develop training and career opportunities, to attract caring and motivated staff who have the best interests of people supported by TLC at heart.

According to Government statistics, around 1.2 million people in England have a learning disability. When they reach adulthood at 18, half will remain within the family home, some will live independently and some will require additional support, either living in Residential Care or with Supported Living services, such as the ones we provide at TLC Care and Support.

Our mission is to provide people who either have a learning disability, an autistic spectrum disorder with associated complex challenging needs and/or a mental health diagnosis with a home-from-home, somewhere where they receive the right level of support to meet their needs, giving them choice about how they live their lives.

In order to achieve this, we need caring and compassionate individuals who are understanding but also like to have a lot of fun, to help people with their daily lives.

We have a Changing Lives initiative which starts with our staff, putting the needs of everyone who uses our services first, treating them with dignity and respect and supporting them to lead active and fulfilling lives.

As well as seeking staff with a wealth of experience we also employ those who have little or no experience or background in care, as we provide the highest standard of training and supervision.

One thing you will hear all our staff say is that no two days are the same. There are so many different activities which you may get involved with, which may include helping people with their personal care, cooking, shopping, housework, visiting friends or enjoying days out to take part in activities or college courses and even holidays.

Our staff are central to everything that we do and achieve. We look for passionate, caring and approachable individuals who treat others just as they would wish to be treated themselves.
