Job Overview


The role of the Nursery Manager is to provide professional leadership and management of the nursery and its staff, and to successfully manage the day to day running of the nursery and deliver high quality standards of care and education for all children.


Aims

  4. Acquire and maintain positive working partnerships with staff, parents and carers.
  5. Sustain targets for revenue and costs.


Key Responsibilities


  1. Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
  2. Ensure that all company policies and procedures are adhered to by all staff
  3. Promote a high standard of quality within the nursery, including practice, environment and resources to meet the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage
  4. Ensure appropriate planning and assessment is in place and is accurately maintained by all staff
  5. Support the development of good practice in relation to special educational needs and inclusion
  6. Provide leadership and support to all staff to enable them to establish and maintain professional positive working relationships with both colleagues, parents and carers
  7. Deploy staff effectively to ensure the required standards are maintained.
  8. Ensure the effective implementation of the company’s keyperson system throughout the nursery
  9. Ensure that all children are kept safe and that staff are confident to follow safeguarding procedures
  10. Implement and support others in delivering the EYFS in line with current practice and guidelines
  11. Develop and maintain professional working relationships with relevant outside agencies.
  12. Create and maintain a culture of self-evaluation and reflective practice throughout the nursery
  13. Proactively promote and represent the nursery to current and potential parents/customers including in the wider community
  14. Adhere to all health and safety policies and procedures and be responsible for ensuring all staff receive health and safety training
  15. Be fully aware of all emergency and security procedures.
  16. Be responsible for ensuring the nursery remains compliant in respect of suitably trained and vetted staff with relevant qualifications.
  17. Recruit, induct, support, train and appraise all staff to deliver high quality childcare practice.
  18. Identify, address and support individual training needs and self-development such as supervisions and appraisals
  19. Work in conjunction with the Franchisee and Monkey Puzzle Day Nurseries Ltd Head Office in disciplinary and grievance investigations and hearings
  20. Be responsible for making sure all complaints/concerns are actively resolved in a timely manner.
  21. Manage staff and running costs.
  22. Facilitate inspections by regulatory bodies and implement any recommendations.
  23. Be responsible for all administrative duties associated with the nursery, including maintaining children’s records, ordering equipment and keeping personnel files
  24. Undertake any other duties as reasonably requested by line manager.


Qualification:

  1. Minimum full and relevant Level 3 Early Years qualification
  2. Designated Safeguarding Lead
  3. Safer Recruitment training
  4. Paediatric First Aid
  5. Food and Hygiene Level 2

  1. Ability to write reports and keep clear and accurate records.
  2. Ability to write clear objective observations.
  3. Excellent planning and organisation
  4. Strong IT skills
  5. Strong leadership
  6. Good presentation skills
  7. Excellent communicator
  8. Able to motivate, manage and work productively within a team.
  9. Identify training needs, develop training plans and evaluate training undertaken by staff.
  10. Recruit, induct, support, train and appraise all staff to ensure delivery of high-quality childcare practice.
  11. Ability to comprehend, impart and adhere to a strict set of policies and procedures.

Essential skills/Experience • Minimum of 2 years recent experience of working in a Nursery/Preschool setting within a senior role i.e., Nursery Manager, Deputy Nursery Manager Level 3 in Early Years
